The world is influenced by six primal elemental forces: wind, earth, water, fire, light, and darkness, which constantly clash and cause earth-shattering effects. The game features extreme weather conditions, making it challenging for players to procure food and water as they roam the expansive world. Archos’s atmosphere is adversely affected, and as a result, strange occurrences take place during the night. Players harness the power of magic to construct buildings, create portals, control the weather, and master battlefield skills. They can choose to either hunt the magical creatures for food and clothing, extract their essence or tame them as companions. The game encourages players to specialize and cooperate with other players as no one character can master all skills. Faction building, community structure, and support become critical for players, especially in the early stages of the game. The game’s sandbox structure allows players to create and build anywhere in the world, making it necessary to defend their homestead from the impending doom of darkness. Players’ choices determine the future of the world, whether to embrace or fight the darkness.
