Game Details

In this early game published through Choice of Games’ “Hosted Games” program, players assume the identity of a young fantasy adventurer trained in the arts of the warrior, the thief, and the mage.  This particular adventure represents their graduation into the esteemed “TriCla” society of flexible folks able to size up which classes’ abilities are called for in a given situation and put them to good use, skills put to the test in an exam taking place in a training dungeon of sorts.  In an unusual conceit, switching a set of class abilities is enacted by consuming potions that actually change the player’s class—potions which can be used at varying degrees of concentration but are ultimately limited in quantity, discouraging trial-and-error exploratory gameplay and adding an extraordinary puzzling dimension.

As with all Choice of Games offerings, most gameplay is presented as long text passages of output staggered with opportunities for players to select between options presented.  This game was one of the first times illustrations (in the form of room map illustrations) were incorporated into Choicescript game output.
