Pedit5 or The Dungeon is a contender to being the first RPG computer game. The player explores a predefined dungeon of 40+ rooms in which random monsters wander that can be killed and treasure can be found. The dungeon is shown in a top down view and the player character and enemies are displayed as icons. In line with Dungeons & Dragons released a year earlier killing enemies yields experience points which make the player character level up and improve his statistics. There are different classes that can be played such as Mage and Cleric. The player uses keyboard shortcuts to attack, run, cast spells, etc. Navigation is done with the arrow keys.
