The Dark Kingdom

The Dark Kingdom is an RPG adventure game for the TRS-80.

There is a rich and evil land to the east, filled with great wealth and adventure.  You arrive at the border with sword, shield, horse, and a 3-day supply of resources in a quest for gold and fame.

The player can explore 4 separate maps, each labelled with a number of places that can be visited.  While travelling between areas, the player can get attacked by a variety of monsters.  The player and monster can move on the screen, and each takes turns attacking the other from short range.  At each area, the player can explore to look for resources.  They can also find people to barter with during their adventure.  The player has a limited supply of food, drink, and healing supplies during their adventure which can be used to heal the player after incurring damage.  As the player is victorious in combat, their fame increases.  The goal is to acquire 200 fame points and defeat the dark ruler.
