The Crush Depth update is now live in Abiotic Factor. This is the first major roadmap milestone that's been achieved since the game came out in Early Access back in May. There's a lot of new content to enjoy and today we'll take a look at some of them.
Abiotic Factor tells the story of GATE, home to the greatest minds in the world. They operate a global network of secretive research laboratories that spans every field of scientific study and even the realms beyond. Players take on the role of a GATE employee working to extend the bounds of human knowledge along with looking to explain the unexplainable.
Going Beyond
For this new update, the story continues in the GATE Cascade Research Facility. It begins with a journey into the dark gauntlet of Security Sector and then goes to the watery Hydroplant. Each locale comes with new resources, new enemies, and more. Developer Deep Field Games didn't actually reveal more about the new locations as they said they want players to both "experience and explore" at their own pace and with no preconceived notions on where to go and what to do.
Taking a Break
If you're tired of the day-to-day mad science, you can take a break and go fishing. That's right! Time to come up with a Makeshift Fishing Rod and cast the line. You can level up the new Fishing skill to unlock fishing-related recipes and even increase the general skill in acquiring those fish. The addition of fishing also means that introduction of a new bait system. There's also a lot of new ways to obtain certain resources.
For the fish, it's important to remember that you can catch different kinds of fish depending on the type of water. Keep an eye out for some sneaky variants that may be hiding.
