Developers mc2games and Mameshiba Games announced Are You Smarter Than a Troll? is launching on Steam sometime in early 2027. Prior to the release, a demo of this trivia roguelike is planned to be available.
The game likely takes inspiration from the game show Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? Answering trivia questions are the main mechanics of the game.
The game focuses on a Troll who thinks players are too stupid to claim his treasure. Players have been invited to the tower and prove if they are indeed smarter than the Troll. In addition to overcoming his challenges, players need to survive his monsters, and of course, defeat him to claim his fortune. As players fight for their life, for the Troll this is simply entertainment.
Are You Smarter Than a Troll? has players choose to be the Warrior, Wizard, or Thief. Each one comes with unique skills and different playstyles. Players can combine skills and artifacts to release powerful attacks, stack poison, or build defenses.
When it comes to battle, all players need to do is choose the correct answer to each question and attack. Those who get it wrong can see the enemy striking back. There are more than 5,000 questions spread out across 11 categories that include video games, TV and movies, science, history, and music, to name a few. By the way, there is a way to eliminate wrong answers so keep a close eye on that.
It's important to remember though that come situations see the answers being burned away even as players are still reading them. Meanwhile, there are also those who leave the fate of players on the final draw, with each correct answer improving the odds. Players can also look out for those who hide the answers altogether. To win, they'll have to learn their tricks and adapt the necessary strategy.
