Developer Game Science is adding another feather to its cap with the success of Black Myth: Wukong during the 42nd Golden Joystick Awards held last week. The game won the biggest award of the night which was Ultimate Game of the Year. It also brought home another award which was the one for Best Visual Design.
However, two games took home four awards each. The first one was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth which was named for Best Storytelling, Best Soundtrack, Best Supporting Performer (Briana White), and Best Lead Performer (Cody Christian). Helldivers 2 meanwhile got the nod in four awards which were Best Multiplayer Game, Best Game Trailer, Console Game of the Year and the coveted Critics’ Choice Award.
The Golden Joystick Awards is also known as the People's Gaming Awards. It awards the best video games of the year. For 2024, more than 12 million public votes were cast to pick the winners in 21 different categories. Three categories meanwhile were critically chosen. This year's awards show was hosted by Ben Starr. There were also special guests from the world of gaming that included the likes of actors Alex McKenna, Alix Wilton Regan, Derek Siow, Neil Newbon, Patricia Summersett, and Samantha Béart.

- Best Game Trailer - Helldivers 2 (public vote)
- Best Early Access Game - Lethal Company (public vote)
- Still Playing - Mobile - Honkai: Star Rail (public vote)
