If you're in the market for a new role-playing game, then Born of Bread
should be at the top of that list. Set to arrive for the PC sometime this year, it's also launching for the Xbox Series platforms, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. While there's no exact date yet, players can check out the game courtesy of a demo. For the PC, it's available through Steam.
One way to describe the game is that it brings everyone back to the time of classic cartoony role-playing games. This was when fun characters, as well as charming stories, available not only for children but also adults.
A Hero the World “Kneads”
In the game, beings from another age have started to cause problems on the land. Their mischief has now become a threat. A hero arrives in the form of a golem that's born of bread and named Loaf. The golem, along with his friends, are caught in the middle of a situation that's been thousands of years in the making. The game gets to explore some incredible locals and even meet truly fascinating characters.
Artistic Direction & Storyline
One of the things that players can look forward to in this game is its unique artistic direction. It features a mix of 2D characters that’s evolve in a 3D world. While the angle of the camera is fixed similar to a side-scroller, the environment actually offers a lot of depth.
The light-hearted storyline is another highlight of the game especially since it’s been packed with likable characters and humor. It’s not all fun since the story also takes on a serious tone with topics like the consequences of choices and growth of the characters.
Friends & Combat System
Th game has Loaf explore different parts of the kingdom and along the way meet new friends that accompanies him on his journey. Each new buddy comes with their own set of abilities that can help the party in exploration or combat. Of course, the journey won't be easy as there are enemies to encounter. The combat system of the game gives players access to various weapons that are physical damage types and special damage types. It's up to the players to find what combination is the most efficient in beating enemies.
