Funcom announced that console versions of Dune: Awakening are releasing on September 22. It's going to be available for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
Pre-orders are now live on both PlayStation and Xbox. The standard edition is priced at $49.99. There's also the option to go for the Deluxe Edition ($69.99) or the Ultimate Edition ($89.99). Those who pre-order copies can get their hands on special rewards.
As part of this announcement, the studio released gameplay footage for the PlayStation 5 version. There's also a new story trailer released to give a peek to what players can expect in September.
Console Experience
The console versions offer the same experience as the PC version. The controls and UI in particular have been optimized for consoles with 60fps target for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. In terms of gameplay, console players can now play the whole game in single-player. It offers scalable difficulty along with a wide range of gameplay customization settings. For the story, it includes the dramatic conclusion to Dune: Awakening’s cinematic storyline.
In a statement, Funcom CEO Rui Casais shared that this is more than simply releasing the game to consoles. For the studio, it serves as a significant milestone with Casais saying that this may be the "best version yet" of the game.
Xbox Version
Funcom revealed that Dune: Awakening is going to be available with Xbox Game Pass when the console version comes out. It's also set to be fully Xbox Play Anywhere enabled. That means cross-play is possible between players on Xbox and the Microsoft Store. These same players can even share progress. The game is also going to support the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Dune: Awakening takes players to an open world and multiplayer survival game on a massive scale. In reality, it’s more than just survival since the game offers a large-scale, persistent, and highly immersive world that has social hubs bustling with other players, server-wide politics and intrigue, and even a cinematic storyline that’s sure to leave players at the edge of their seat.
