CD PROJEKT RED announced that the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 has been nominated for Best Narrative at The Game Awards 2023. In addition, Idris Elba has received a nomination as well for Best Performance in his role as Solomon Reed.
That's not all since Cyberpunk 2077 has also been nominated for Best Ongoing Game and Best Community Support. If you haven't been keeping count, that's a total of four nominations.
For those of you who are curious, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is up against Alan Wake 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy XVI, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Meanwhile in addition to Idris Elba, the Best Performance also has as nominees Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI), Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor). Melanie Liburd (Alan Wake 2), Neil Newbon (Baldur's Gate 3), and Yuri Lowenthal (Marvel's Spider-Man 2).
The Game Awards is considered as one of the most prestigious awards events in the video game industry and started in 2014. Voting is now open with the winners to be announced live during the official ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on December 7. There are a total of 31 awards to be handed with Game of the Year nominees being Alan Wake 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven and open-world RPG that's set in Night City. This is a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour, and body modification. The game offers a multilayered and mature story focused on the cyber-enhanced mercenary V. Players faced with choices and consequences while being able to customize their character and playstyle, take on jobs, and build their reputation. Since its release back in December 2020, the game has sold more than 25 million copies while also winning over 200 awards. It also served as the inspiration for the award-winning Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
The Phantom Liberty expansion was launched September 2023 and offered a spy-thriller adventure along with a new story. There's also a new story for players to explore.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available for the PC through Steam.
