The first ever DLC for Darkest Dungeon II is finally here. Titled as "The Binding Blade," in introduces two new heroes to the game along with a wandering mini-boss known as The Warlord. The DLC is available for $9.99.
What can be expected from these two heroes? The first is the Duelist who's known mainly for her disciplined combat style. She has the ability to switch between Defensive and Aggressive stances and can pierce enemy defense. She can also lead her team with her strategic buffs. The second is the Crusader who brings with him his righteous blade as he excels in front-line combat with his healing and stress recovery skills.
While it's exciting to know that new heroes have arrived, it's not going to be easy especially with the addition of The Warlord. This roaming mini boss is one that you're likely to encounter when you're on the journey to the Mountain. It should add that new layer of strategy and danger.
Talking about this new DLC, Red Hook Studios Co-Founder and Creative Director Chris Bourassa revealed that it was the continued support for the Crusader that had them excite to bring this hero back. He added that it wasn't enough to have him back so to honor his status with the players, they introduced a unique in-game experience.
Released in May 2023, Darkest Dungeon II is a rogue-like turn-based road trip of the damned. Players get to form a party, equip their stagecoach, and then journey across a decaying landscape on a quest to prevent the apocalypse. Since its official launch, players have been introduced to a world that's filled with grim horrors and challenging decisions. The game has received critical acclaim with a "Most Positive" rating on Steam from more than 10,000 reviews.
The game features five campaigns, which are called as “Confessions.” Each one comes with its own boss and even mechanics. Including the two heroes introduces in the new DLC, the game now has a roster of 14 playable heroes. Other features of the game include the extensive metagame progression hub known as “The Altar of Hope.”
The combination of the immersive narrative, atmospheric graphics, and strategic gameplay, result in the game being able to redefine the standards of the roguelike RPG genre. There’s no question that there’s a lot to like about the game so head on over to Steam now and get Darkest Dungeon II.
