Team Ruphi announced that a demo for Guns and Gargoyles is now live on Steam. This retro RPG has players take on the role of Hasko Brand and hunt an old evil.
In a statement, Team Ruphi Founder Abin Babu shared that the game was designed to have that "old school" RPG feel. He added that they wanted to create a game where players can immerse hours of their life.
As part of the release of the demo, a launch trailer has been released which can be viewed here.
Guns and Gargoyles is a top down pixel art RPG. This grimdark RPG features old school design and offers real time combat instead of the usual turn-based mechanisms of other games in the genre.
The game is set against the backdrop of the infamous black forest of Germany. It’s in an alternate reality where monsters out of folklore have come to life. For those able to survive the feral wolves, bats and bears, there remain the creatures of the night who won’t spare players. The black forest is a place where the sun never shines.
The story begins with a letter from a priest. Eight children in a modest orphanage are heading to the abbey. Hasko Brand that decides to take on the work. However, the carriage never reached the abbey. Amidst the ruins of the carriage players are forced to improvise. Their trusted rifle is missing and all they have is a torch and a handful of knives.
