Demo of Buddy Bug is Now Available on Steam

Wildfire Game announced that the first public demo of Buddy Bug is now live on Steam. This 2D action roguelite shrinks players and puts them in a microscopic insect world that's hidden within a city corner.

For now, the demo supports the single-player campaign along with local co-op for up to two players. It offers a self-contained adventure that's been designed specifically for first-time players. The special demo features a large and handcrafted stage which combines visual and gameplay elements from two major biomes.

Here's what players can expect for the demo:

• Experiment with four unique weapons and more than 10 gadgets where each feature unique elemental interactions.

• Face newly designed enemies in a rebalanced progression tuned for both accessibility and depth.

• Try out the new 'Specialization Class' system, which introduces multiple specialization paths for creative builds.

In a statement, the development team over at Wildfire Game revealed that for the game, they wanted it to feature tactile and physics-based combat which is then combined with co-op roguelite systems. The team went on to say that through the demo, they wanted to give players “a taste of the playful chaos” that they hope to offer in the full release.

Buddy Bug is set in a hidden corner of the human city and reimagines everyday objects as colossal tools of survival. These include the likes of modified lighters and bottle caps to thumbtacks and tennis balls. Pretty much everything becomes a potential weapon or gadget once it’s been re-engineered via insect ingenuity.

The combat of the game is all about the interplay of physics reactions, elemental effects, and roguelite buildcrafting. By combining these three layers, it allows for an endlessly replayable system where creative players can chain reactions, improvise strategies, and cooperate for chaotic fun.
