Looks like we're finally getting an official release date for Demonschool. Developer Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games revealed that the school-life tactics RPG is launching on September 3.
Demonschool tells the story of Faye, a college freshman who's actually descended from a demon-hunting family lineage. She learns that creatures she'd only seen in ancient tomes are now haunting an enigmatic island university. In order to survive a semester, she'll have to make friends and forge relationships. Then there are the fights against the gruesome monsters clearly inspired by ‘60s and ‘70s Italian horror cinema and Japanese horror manga.
Form the Party
Players need to form a team from hundreds of combinations among 15 playable characters. These include the likes of Faye’s unbridled kicks, Namako’s debuffs, and Destin’s short-shorts-fueled knockbacks, to name a few. Players can create a perfect group for each combat situation. They can boost the unique skills and abilities by scheduling them for training and accepting their side quests outside of class hours. It's also important to cultivate bonds between every pair to compose powerful combos in battle.
2D and 3D
Demonschool features a realm where 2D and 3D collide. Players can meet and fight the demon world’s worst beasts and bosses. These include the gory crawling hellspawn and all the way to giant skeletons and stacks of televisions. Players have to strategically choose each party member’s path in the Planning phase with unlimited rewinds to perfect each turn. After that they watch every punch, heal, and combo play out simultaneously in the Action phase.
In a statement, Necrosoft Games Creative Director Brandon Sheffield shared that “it’s been a long road” and the good news is that they’re finally through certification and more than ready to go. What this means is that Demonschool is finally being released. He ended by saying that they hope players enjoy it.
Demonschool is a tactics RPG where motion equals action. Players need to defeat big weirdos in between the human and demon worlds while also navigating university life on a mysterious island. The game is launching on September 3 and to be available for the PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It's also coming out for consoles PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck.
