Studio Wildcard released details for some of the new content arriving in ARK: Survival Ascended. The Araneo TLC sees the arrival of an eight-legged menace.
In a post, the studio shared that it's been getting more than simply a touch-up. In particular, they've been working on how it moves, how it hunts, and even where it fits with the ecosystem. The studio revealed that the goal is to make sure it feels purposeful at many stages of play.
In the past, Araneo was often dismissed as a proper mount because it was too small. Well, the arachnid is set to spin a different story when it arrives in the game. The new saddle design in particular results in a rather versatile role for those who're not afraid to think a little differently. The combination of the improved mobility and a new perspective from above, it feels as if players are stepping into a role that feels equal parts ambush predator and tactical support.
That's not all since webbing isn’t just for traversal anymore. There's now going to be more control behind each now. It lets players have that gentler approach when the situation calls for it.
Overall, this is a creature that's sure to change the way players hunt.
Transfer Issues
In the same post mentioned above, the studio said that they've been looking into a series of transfer-related issues, mainly the affected players connecting through EU endpoints. It seems that it was linked to intermittent disruptions affecting cloud data services. This was preventing some transfers from completing as expected.
The good news is that the issue has been resolved and services stabilized. The studio went on to say they're continuing to work with hosting partners to better understand what caused the outage and help prevent similar disruptions going forward.
During the period of the disruption, the studio shared that they received a number of reports that were related to missing characters, items, and creatures. In most cases, it seems that these were not lost but instead remained on the server the transfer originated from or within the ARK upload. For players who think they were affected, the studio recommends double-checking the previous server and their upload to locate the character or items. For those whose character remains missing after doing what was suggested, they'll have to submit a restoration request via the character restoration form.
