Exciting news for players of Fortnite Creator Islands! That's because they can now experience a little piece of Dune: Awakening. This is made possible through a collaboration between Funcom and the Power Up team at Meta4 Interactive.
In Fortnite, one of the islands where players can get a taste of spice is the highly popular Crazy Red vs. Blue (island code 2898-7886-8847). Over the course of the campaign, millions of players can find a unique Dune: Awakening area that features three different gameplay mechanics.
The first is "The Sandworm." By entering a secret code, they get access to a Thumper that then summons none other than Shai-Hulud himself. They then have to place the Thumper and watch chaos unfold as the sandworm breaches through the ground, eliminating players and destroying structures.
The second one is "The Jabal Spitdar Rifle." This one has players collect what may well be one of the most recognizable weapons in Dune: Awakening, which is the Jabal Spitdart Rifle. Players eliminated with this weapon are disintegrated into a cloud of Spice.
The third is all about "Elimination Quest." Players can enroll in an elimination quest and rank up through three tiers of Arrakis mastery. Each rank allows them to unlock an item that can then be worn on the creator island in Fortnite. These are the Atreides Scout Hood, the Atreides Scout Helmet, and Gurney Halleck’s Baliset.
Those looking for something different need not worry because there's also Troll Bedwars (island code 9783-9810-3294) where they can enjoy the Dune: Awakening experience. Here, the familiar lava areas have all turned into sand and is now the perfect habitat for Shai-Hulud.
In a statement, Funcom shared that the activities mentioned are available for the next several days before being reclaimed by the sands.
Dune: Awakening takes players to an open world and multiplayer survival game on a massive scale. In reality, it’s more than just survival since the game offers a large-scale, persistent, and highly immersive world that has social hubs bustling with other players, server-wide politics and intrigue, and even a cinematic storyline that’s sure to leave players at the edge of their seat.
