The wait is over as the full version of Space Haven is officially available on Steam. The game invites players to embark on a space voyage with their ragtag crew of civilians in search of a new home.
In a post, developer Bugbyte shared that with the release, they hope that Space Haven "becomes more than just systems and mechanics." The development team also said they want to thank all of those who play the game and provided feedback. They went on to say that they'll work to do their best and continue working on the game based on the feedback received.
Design and Build
Space Haven gives players complete freedom when it comes to building a spaceship or station. They can place every piece of ship hull, wall, door and facility wherever they want. It's also important to remember that all facilities serve a purpose. Crew members sleep in beds, use toilets, be disturbed by a noisy room, and praise players for an arcade machine.
Since players are able to build a functional spaceship tile-by-tile, it gives them the opportunity to shape a spaceship of their own desire. They can have it symmetric and streamlined, or maybe give it that asymmetrical whimsical looking thing. It doesn't have to look like a conventional spaceship depicted in sci-fi literature.
Simulated Gas System
One of the interesting features of the game is the gas system. It simulates different gases, temperature, and crew comfort on the spaceship. Humans, plants, and facilities react to the conditions surrounding them. It gives meaning to how players design their ship and the living conditions they create.
Go on Missions
Players can equip their crew with space suits and weapons. After that they'll have organized away teams to explore derelict ships and stations. They can explore and salvage resources and items and may even find activated cryopods with someone frozen inside. There are also spaceships or stations that offer find data logs and with it tell stories of past spacefarers searching for a new home.
