Outcast Tales has officially been launched on Steam. This free-to-play RPG sees intraparty squabbles causing as much trouble as the perilous wasteland itself.
The game is developed by Hardlane Studio and published by Inner Pocket. It features a story-rich adventure where players are sent into a post-apocalyptic frontier searching for riches. They get to lead a misfit crew across turn-based battles and tough choices that could leave their party fighting for glory, fighting for their lives, or just fighting each other.
Personality Matters
This tactical roleplaying adventure has players learn that personality is just as important as class and abilities. They'll need to assemble a three-person crew from a diverse roster composed of wasteland wanderers, each one having their own skills and powers. After that they can then give each hero a personality type and see what happens when they’re thrown together. For example, a support-based Technomancer might make for a good Pacifist but can the same be true for a Pacifist Mercenary? When it comes to Outcast Tales, there are no wrong answers but rather unintended consequences.
Unpredictable Inhabitants
As players set out into the wilderness, they soon encounter the unpredictable inhabitants of this desolate dustbowl. Players may be able to talk their way out of trouble though there's also the possibility that someone in the party may say the wrong thing which can lead to a turn-based tactical tussle. There are upgradeable skills and powerful synergies unlocked made possible through different party compositions and should give players that much needed edge in combat and send those miscreants packing.
Path to Glory
In Outcast Tales, the path to glory is paved with unexpected encounters and more interpersonal drama than a daytime talk show. The choices made shape the story, for better or worse, as it opens up surprising solutions to problems or gives the band of misfits even more reason to hate each other.
