Developer Dream Dock announced that more than 200,000 individuals have wishlisted DREADMOOR on Steam. In celebration of this latest milestone, the first public playtest of the game is now available.
The public playtest is being offered as part of the Steam Ocean Fest. This makes it the first time players around the world can check out what the game has to offer. The playtest includes several never-before-seen features that include day/night cycle with nighttime tentacle attacks. Players also need to find the right frequency on the radio, use lockpicks to explore forbidden areas, refuel generators, solve water flow puzzles, and learn recipes with the Mastery system.
DREADMOOR is set in a bayou that's been ravaged by an evil plague. Players board a leaky fishing boat and scavenge to survive. They'll have to explore the Submerged Lands to determine which are the best fishing spots. However, they'll need to keep an eye out for those fearsome and mutated predators that make these waters their home. If players manage to fill their hold with mutant fish, they'll have to head back to the bait shop that’s perched on the back of a gargantuan crab and sell their catch. Players then have to upgrade their hull and fishing gear before seeking out deadlier prey for those rare parts needed for specialty lures and pole upgrades.
In a statement, Dream Dock CEO Rostislav Fedorov revealed that they've been working to make sure that DREADMOOR becomes the "dark fishing dream" that they've always wanted. The feedback submitted by players during the previous playtests have played a big part.
For those who are excited and want to be part of the playtest, the recommended system specifications for the PC are:

- Processor: i7 8700 or higher
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT

DREADMOOR is a dark first-person fishing adventure game that’s set in a submerged world which has been rotting from a past catastrophe. They get to fish in murky waters, upgrade their boat, craft survival gear, and fight monstrous creatures that lurk under the water and on the land. DREADMOOR is coming to PC via Steam later in 2026.
