SpaceRocket Games announced that it is extending access to the free demo of Permafrost. Initially, the demo for the game was supposed to end October 21, which is also when the Steam Next Fest October ended.
In a statement, the studio shared that the main reason for the extension was the remarkable achievements of the game during the said Next Fest. For example, the game was able to reach the number 3 spot in "Trending and Upcoming Games" while at the same time reaching number 7 for "Most Popular Demos," in the first few days of the event. That's not all since the game was also one of the top 20 most wishlisted demos. Topping all these incredible achievements is the "Very Positive" rating on Steam.
New Content at Launch
Permafrost is the newest title in the post-apocalyptic survival genre. The game builds its narrative around a catastrophic event which is that the world has been plunged into a permanent winter with deadly sub-zero temperatures. The studio also revealed that once the game launches, there's going to be at least 30 hours of gameplay available. Players can also look forward to the expanded equipment options like the addition of two weapons. One of the weapons is a crossbow which is sure to give players the ability to hunt or defend themselves.
The launch version is also set to have improve the ranged combat mechanics and introducing more companion options. There may even be dog breeds for players to utilize. The game is also set to introduce transport in the form of a sleigh and snowmobile for traversing large expanses.
A Frozen World
The game is set in 2035, a time when an apocalyptic cataclysm has reshaped the world. What's left is known a chilling wasteland that's known as the Permafrost. It is in this frozen realm that the very existence of humanity hangs by a thread. With society fractured and communication crumbled, survival has become paramount. It doesn't matter whether it's human or beast since all beings face the same relentless struggle. Players take on the role of a survivor who ventures into the remnants of civilization as they try to navigate the icy expanse and see if they can endure the unyielding hunt for precious resources.
