AeKayStudios has released a free demo of The Fight for Beardlandia. This auto-battler roguelike has players recruit a clan of dwarves, gear them up, pick a fight from three enemy cards, then watch the battle play out on its own. Each decision is made before the fight starts.
The game offers six cix classes which are Berserker, Archer, Mage, Healer, Warlock, and Knight. There are synergies though that scale up to eight matching recruits. The game has players choose from 11 weapons, each one having its own ultimate.
The Weapon Chooses
That's right! Weapons are the ones that decide the ultimate of a hero. Classes meanwhile decide how they fight. The thing is, classes and weapons need not match. For example, equipping a Berserker class with a magic staff results in spells that lifesteal. A Knight class that uses a longbow gives an archer that can shrug off physical hits. What about a Mage class using a healing staff? The result is a healer whose ultimate casts twice.
Forge the Arsenal
Players can merge three items to upgrade rarity. By stacking the same item for example, they can see a common longsword climb all the way and become Mythic. In addition, they can unlock more passives with every step up. While a common may have none, a Legendary actually has four. Crystals can also be imbued to have a different effect.
A Different Gacha
The game comes with a gacha though it claims that all players need time and not money. That's because gems and remnants are earned by playing and never bought. There are 11 heroes to pull, each with 3 star powers. To raise stars, players need to collect dupes and once that's done, it changes how the heroes fight. By the way, heroes that are unlocked in the demo can be accessed in the full version.
Pushing Deeper
In The Fight for Beardlandia, enemies get more numerous and more dangerous as players grow. This means that different compositions demand different answers. There’s a total of five bosses, and each is built around its own element
