Galactic Realms: Quest for the Forgotten is coming soon to Steam. This first-person co-op dungeon extraction RPG has been created mainly around PvE. Players get to gear up in a shared and persistent underground hub where they descend and experience an ever-changing dimensional rift dungeon.
While this is sure to be exciting for those who love these kinds of games, it has something that makes it stand apart from the rest. That's because according to independent game studio Galactic Realms Labs, the game follows their player-first philosophy which means it's not pay-to-win, no disposable design, and more importantly, no microtransactions.
While other traditional extraction games have other players serve as the primary threat, Galactic Realms: Quest for the Forgotten instead redirects that pressure into the dungeon through computer-controlled enemies, environmental hazards, limited resources, unpredictable layouts, and real loss on failure. As a result, it's a game that's all about teamwork, progression, and survival but without PvP.
Galactic Realms: Quest for the Forgotten is set in the wider Galactic Realms universe. It's where ancient magic collides with forgotten technology and multiple Origins pulled from different times and dimensions now share one dangerous world. Each expedition has been stitched together through the Galactic Grid Matrix, a modular system that recombines handcrafted zones into new layouts each run.
Talking about this upcoming title, Founder and Creative Director at Galactic Realms Labs Rahdi Fakhoury shared in a statement that while they "love the intensity of extraction gameplay," they wanted the danger players experience to come from the world itself. He added that he grew up on Dungeons & Dragons along with classic MMO raids and now wants to offer a co-op that's designed around meaningful extraction points.
Meanwhile, Galactic Realms Labs Lead Developer Collin Ossman revealed that they built the extraction not as a match but instead as a descent. The threats are from the dungeons and not other players.
Overall, Galactic Realms: Quest for the Forgotten is a title that reimagines extraction gameplay as PvE-only and developed around co-op tension, meaningful progression, and earned rewards. Ready for a new RPG experience? Wishlist the game on Steam now.
