Get Ready for a Cardboard Beatdown When Box Knight Arrives August

Get ready to take part in a fast and tactical side-scrolling combat.

Box Knight is releasing on August 25 and to be available for the PC via Steam. It's the first ever playable title from indie game developer We Made A Thing Studios. This roguelike action RPG has players beat down colleagues who have been turned into monsters.

As part of the release date announcement, a new trailer has been released and can be viewed here.

Box Knight is set in an office that has fallen into darkness. This toxic workplace has twisted the once happy employees and turned them into grotesque and dangerous creatures. It means that this time, the company may need a hero, or possibly even two.

In the game, players take on the role of a typical office worker simply trying to survive the week. That's just during the day. When the clock hits 5:00 PM on a Friday, they become the Box Knight. This protector of the office realm wields cardboard weapons and serves as the last line of defense against corporate corruption.

Players have to fight their way across the office department by department as they clear desks and boardrooms while climbing the tower. They have the option to take on the chaos alone or team up in couch co-op to liberate the workplace together. The ultimate goal is to reach the top floor and defeat the CEO in a glorious battle. At any time they can also fall, regroup, and come back stronger the next week.

Inspired by the Classics

Key features of the game include a fast and tactical side-scrolling combat. This punchy action RPG combat system is one that’s inspired by classic brawlers. It’s a game that’s each to pick up though difficult to master. The focus is on positioning, timing, and smart decision-making.

Adapt to Survive

Enemies aren’t simply there to be punched. There are those that can’t be hit from above while others need piercing attacks. There are also enemies that explode when they’re jumped on. To survive each run, the key is learning how and when to attack.
