Funcom announced that they're holding a Dune: Awakening Free Weekend. It's going to run from September 11 to September 15. That means new players have the chance to explore the vast deserts of Arrakis.
In a post, the studio revealed that there's going to be no restrictions whatsoever when it comes to content during the Free Weekend. New players can explore each zone in Hagga Basin to the Deep Desert to Harko Village and Arrakeen City.
That's not all since those who play during the Free Weekend, even those who already own the game, get to receive the Arrakis Rising decoration, which is a beautiful mural for your base. But wait, there's more! After Free Weekend ends, they can then buy the game at a 20% discount until September 22.
The Free Weekend also allows those who access it to play the Chapter 2 content update that comes out September 9. Also arriving on the same date is the Lost Harvest DLC.
What do you think? Excited to start your adventure in Arrakis?
Dune: Awakening takes players to an open world and multiplayer survival game on a massive scale. In reality, it’s more than just survival since the game offers a large-scale, persistent, and highly immersive world that has social hubs bustling with other players, server-wide politics and intrigue, and even a cinematic storyline that’s sure to leave players at the edge of their seat.
In this universe, the Fremen have vanished and Paul Atreides was never born. This is because Lady Jessica obeyed the Bene Gesserit and gave birth to a girl. Meanwhile, Duke Leto Atreides himself has survived the assault on Arrakeen and is now locked in a brutal conflict against the Harkonnen over Arrakis and its precious spice. This rather unique but still familiar take on the iconic sci-fi universe of Dune has players start as a prisoner sent to Arrakis and learn more about why the Fremen disappeared.
While players on PC can now enjoy Dune: Awakening, console players need to wait. Funcom confirmed that the game is releasing for PlayStation and Xbox consoles sometime in 2026. Get the game on Steam now.
