Demons Arrive

The game is set 700 years before the events of both Ys I & Ys II. It was a time when the land of Ys was on the brink of destruction. Demons had arrived in droves which resulted in the twin Goddesses who ruled the land to forcibly take their subjects away from the surface and bring them to the safe embrace of the clouds. However, the demons were persistent and erected a massive tower.

Looking for the Goddesses

Amidst all this chaos, the Goddesses for some reason stole away into the night and vanished from Ys altogether. The only place they could have gone to was none other than the Devil's Tower. A search party composed of knights and sorcerers was hastily formed and then dispatched in the hopes of retrieving the runaway deities. Among the members of the team are the troubled sorcerer Hugo Fact and apprentice knight Yunica Tovah. This is their story as how each one remembers it.

A New Way to Play

The game has you take on the role of one of three different characters. Each one not only has a unique story to tell but also feature a completely different style of gameplay. To get the victory in the game's fast-paced combat and platforming, you'll have to leverage on the strengths that each character offers. These include typical platforming action, some mobile run-and-gun combat type, or just head into the thick of things with berserker-style melee combat.

The game lets you play your way through five difficulty levels. True Ys masters can test their skills by taking on the Nightmare difficulty. Outside of the story, you can enjoy other modes like "Arena Mode," "Time Attack," or even "Boss Rush."
