Halloween Update Introduces Rework of Combat & Blood Drain in Vampires: Bloodlord Rising

Get ready to face a new enemy.

Mehuman Games released the Halloween Update for Vampires: Bloodlord Rising. One of the big changes is the rework done for Combat and Blood Drain.

For Combat, the rework has resulted in it feeling faster, becoming more responsive, and more skill-based. The input has been buffered better with the counter and parry animations becoming shorter and more impactful. Meanwhile, attack snapping has been reduced with attacks now playing their full animation even when they miss. In addition, enemy attacks have been designed to punish easy exploits.

Another improvement is that Blood Feeding has been rebuilt to what is now an active Blood Drain system. This system can be used both in and outside of combat. How it works is that players simply need to grab a victim and then drain their Blood over time. The drain can be interrupted though by throwing the victim or following up with a strike. It's worth noting that other enemies can continue to attack players while they're feeding.

By the way, Counterattacks share the same input as Blood Drain and always take priority over it. Elite enemies though can't be drained. In addition, Kiss of Eternity is now part of Blood Drain and lets players turn a grabbed victim into a vampire at the cost of Existence.

New Enemy

While improvements are a good way to have a new gameplay experience, the Halloween Update brings more to the table. In particular, players can look forward to a new enemy with Evil Spirits. They attack in groups with unblockable strikes that apply the Cursed debuff. They can also charge straight through their victims and leave a cursed cloud at the point of impact. Evil Spirits only appear during specific encounters and are triggered by entering certain areas, picking up certain items, or closing a chest. Evil Spirits crumble into a pile of ashes when they die.
