It was a little under two weeks ago when Path of Exile 2 was released on early access. What this means is that there's bound to be a lot of issues that need to be fixed. That seems to be the case as developer Grinding Gear Games revealed the balance changes being planned for the game.
Endgame Balance
One of these is in the matter of the balance in Endgame Maps. The studio shared in a post that this was found out to be more punishing than what was intended. As such, they’ve toned down the damage in a number of ways. Certain on-death effects were also disabled.
Character and Item Balance
Players should also be happy to know that Charm Modifiers on Belts have been made more common. What that means is they now appear at much lower levels. Then there’s the “of Symbolism"” Modifier which now appears starting at level 23 with the “of Inscription” Modifier appearing from level 64 onwards.
Skill and Support Gem Balance
It goes without saying that when a game is first launched, there's bound to be a lot of quick updates. The same can be said for this game. In particular, some skills were nerfed for being too overpowered. In this case, being overpowered means that players have no other way to play the game except to use the skill.
The studio shared that they're doing this in a way that doesn't result in bad builds. After all, the shift in meta typically happens when a new patch has been implemented. Anyway, the studio is now working to improve some of the underpowered skills. These include:
- Improvements to Rolling Slam and all Shield Skills in the Mace section.
- Improvements to various Bow Skills, especially the skills used to generate Frenzy Charges.
- Improvements to Bone Spells and Chaos Damage over Time Spells in the Occult section.
- Improvements to various Crossbow Skills, especially those at higher Tiers.
- Improvements to some of the underachieving Quarterstaff abilities.
What did you think of these plans? There are also other changes made like the one for Trial of the Sekhemas which you can learn more about here.
