Here’s What’s Happening in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis for the Third Quarter

SEGA has released a roadmap to what's happening in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis for the coming months. Today we'll take a look into the plans for the third quarter of 2025.

New Sector Opens Up

For July, players can look forward to the Interception Sectors coming to the new Alter Realm field. This new type of Sector is all about combat rather than exploration. Up to 32 players get to fight against powerful boss enemies that appear at regular intervals.

There are also going to be new enemies introduced along with enemies from the currently active Limited-time Urgent Quest: Shadow of the Fallen Star. There's also a collab with the original plastic model series Arcanadea that features a "sci-fi crossed with fantasy" theme.

Class Update Arrives

When August arrives, it's going to bring with it a class update. These include expansions for the Waker class and balance adjustments for the Fighter and Gunner classes. Players should be happy to know that the long-requested adjustments to Chain Boost is also being implemented during this update.

During this month, the Super Phantasy Festival is set to feature a campaign where players can get as much as 100 free AC Scratch Ticket pulls. This is in celebration of the 13th anniversary of Phantasy Star Online 2. There's also a new Mini Episode content and summer-themed Limited-time Quests coming out. Keep an eye out on the return of familiar enemies to commemorate the 13th anniversary.

Combat Sector Added

Finally, there's September which sees a new Combat Sector being added to the Alter Realm. This Sector offers a fresh combat experience and features unique Trials and enemies unique from those in the Interception Sectors coming in July.

Then looking ahead to October, the class level cap is going to be raised to 110. There's going to be a new player update with the EX Style system being introduced. For those asking, EX Style is a new system that expands player actions and functions like a third class.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is set 1,000 years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2. It takes place on Halpha, a planet on which ARKS have been locked in a battle for dominance against the mysterious DOLLS. The game features new and improved action combat. There's also enhanced character customization to allow for more flexibility and expression than ever before. Players can choose from four unique races and eight classes as they join forces with other operatives to experience unforgettable battles and boss fights in brand new locales.
