Developer NEXON provided an update on the work being done for Nakwon: Last Paradise. This survival extraction game is set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse.

The last big activity conducted was the first pre-alpha test which occurred back in December 2024. It was during this time that the development team was able to collect some important player feedback. These same comments were used to refine the game one step further.

Since that pre-alpha test, there have been a lot of changes made. For starters, different zombie types have been added, each one having unique traits of their own. This not only makes the zombies more of a dynamic threat against players but also maximizes the tension for each session.

The development team also revealed that they’ve rebuilt the combat mechanics. A skill system has also been added to the game. As a result, it has broadened the exploration and gameplay experience. The team went on to say that they’re working on other diverse mechanics that include housing, levels, traits, and character customization. Learn more about the progress here.

Surviving Against Zombies

The game is set in Seoul, a city of scarce guns and lots of hiding spots within its clustered buildings and alleys. As ordinary humans, players need to survive against the zombies by relying solely on their senses. They'll need to infiltrate the city that's full of Zombies and other Survivors. They have to collect useful items and then sell them. Players can also make money by completing missions. They'll have to be careful since they lose everything once they die.

One important thing to remember is that zombies are drawn to sounds and once they spot humans, they then chase after them. There are different ways to survive. For example, they can cover themselves and then move in silence. Players can also lure the zombies and disrupt their attention.

Zombies though aren’t the only danger. That’s because when it comes to a world with no laws and rules, it is human beings that are the last ones to be trusted. Survival can hinge on murdering others and plundering their belongings. Just remember to be cautious about everything and trust no one.
