Ubisoft announced that Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era is set to be available for the PC. It's launching on Steam Early Access sometime in the first half of 2025. This one is set before the events that happened in the first game. That means fans can look forward to once again seeing not just the world of Enroth but also the continent of Jadame. Longtime players of the series probably remember that while Jadame has been referenced in the main Heroes of Might and Magic series, it actually not explored.
Introducing New Features
The turn-based gameplay is divided between two types. The first is exploration where players get to take control of a hero and find resources, build towns, and of course, gather armies. Then there's the tactical battle with players fighting against the armies of enemies. While that is indeed exciting, this upcoming title introduces new features. For example, players now have more control when it comes to how they level up their heroes and factions. Another change is the new systems available to learn skills and magic spells. It's also worth noting that artifacts now give bonuses if players equip more than one piece from a set.
Another new feature is that the units that players get to command during battles now come with secondary abilities. These abilities can be activated once the energy meter is filled up. Players should also be happy to know that Olden Era makes use of hexagonal spaces for the battlefield rather than the usual rectangular grids.
More Ways to Play
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era offers players different ways to play. There’s story-driven campaign along with the single maps for solo players. The classic multiplayer matches are also available and supports one-on-one duels though it allows a maximum of eight players in the lobby.
Aside from the pre-made maps, the game is also set to feature randomly generated new ones, which means there’s also something new for players to discover. By the way, players can also create their own maps and campaigns through the in-game editor.
