The release of Hyper Light Breaker to Steam Early Access has been postponed to 2024. It's being developed by Heart Machine and set to be the studio's first 3D co-op open world roguelite adventure game. The game was supposed to come out in the fall of this year.
According to studio Founder and Creative Director Alx Preston, they've come a long way since they started development of the game. By moving the launch of early access to next year, the studio hopes to make sure that the game is brought to its full potential. Both the studio and publisher Gearbox Publishing assured everyone that they'll continue to provide a look in the ongoing development leading to the early access.
Explore a New World
The game is set in Overgrowth, a forgotten land that's part of the world of Hyper Light. The world is now in disarray and players need to bring order back by solving mysteries and defeating various enemies. Along the way they get to explore fully 3D environments. This large and ever-changing world has deep labyrinths and open biomes. Added to the mix are the procedurally generated and hand-crafted elements.
Lead the Team
Players can choose to take the adventure alone with single players or team up with other Breakers via online co-operative play. It's going to be an exciting time considering that they get to face waves of enemies and go against bosses in third-person combat.
For each run, everyone has the chance to discover, and even unlock, a wide range of items and weapons which can then be strategically crafted to a strong build. There’s a lot to learn about the Overgrowth especially with the characters and the storylines revealed with each death and succeeding attempt.
Over the course of the journey, players need to help the different settlements. The accomplishments made in the game introduce new characters and even add permanent updates to the hub which expands the population. It’s also important to remember to visit the citizens every now and them to discover more about their stories.
Since the game remains to be in development, no system requirements have been revealed as of the moment.
