Red Hook Studios announced that the latest DLC for Darkest Dungeon II is now available. Inhuman Bondage is being offered at $9.99 and available for PC and Mac.
The DLC introduces a new mini-region to the game which is The Catacombs. This bonus region has a slime-sodden enemy faction that's unique to it. PLayers need to fight their way across these putrescent piles of slime. Those who succeed can get their hands on unique combat items and trinkets to modify their heroes and get the upper hand.
Making things difficult is the Abomination, which makes its return to the game. This rather reclusive alchemist comes with a unique battle mechanic which allows him to transform into a fearsome monstrosity at the risk of spiraling stress.
Talking about this new DLC, Red Hook Studios co-founder and creative director Chris Bourassa shared in a statement that the DLC “plugs seamlessly” not only into the original Confessions game mode but even the new Kingdoms mode. This should allow for variety and challenge to all players.
Darkest Dungeon II may be the second installment in the series but it remains faithful to its grim thematic underpinnings as it urges players to form a party, gear up their stagecoach, and journey across a dystopian landscape in an attempt to prevent the apocalypse.
The game brings back the signature mix of memorable heroes, with each one having their own tragic backstories to unearth. Heroes can unlock their full potential through a range of new skills, progress paths, and items that can provide an edge in battle. Each expedition in the game varies in length, from 30 minutes to several hours. Even a journey cut short yields its rewards, providing resources players can use to enhance upcoming expeditions. The game’s massive upgrade system, aptly named ‘The Altar of Hope’, offers new strategies for every venture, enabling players to cater their attack plans in line with their goals.
The game pushes survival instincts with a sequence of nightmarish environments, each posing unique threats and challenges. In addition, the game provides a hub, the Inn, where players can rest, relieve their heroes’ stress, and improve intra-party relationships.
