A new update is coming to MapleStory and one of the changes happening is Interactive World Merger. This goes live with the v.262 update releasing on August 27.
According to Chief Product Officer Hanbyeol Oh, this merger has long been consistently requested. He added that making decisions and preparing for the world merger needed a lot of discussion and time. Still, they followed the process of finalizing the decisions by incorporating as much feedback as they could from the survey.
Hanbyeol Oh revealed that even if this happens, they admit that they won't be "able to fully satisfy all players." This is because there were a lot of opinions on how to handle the merge.
Auction House Fees
One of the concerns that players raised was on the Auction House fees after the world merge. After careful review, the conclusion reached was that considering the characteristics and conditions of Interactive World in the game, it would be better to operate the Auction House fees in a way that's different from the environment in the Korean version, where the feature was first introduced.
Hanbyeol Oh shared that they're waiving the 10% fee that was to be applied to interactive World's Cross World Auction House transaction when the August update released. This means no fees are to be paid to utilize the Auction House.
Other Content
The upcoming August update is set to introduce the Legion Champion. This is a system where some characters within the same world are going to be designated as Champions and the stats of all Champions increase together based on the progression of each Champions.
The update also introduces the Midnight Carnival a little earlier compared to the previous years. It's going to be set in Mu Lung Garden and includes Equipment Transfer and Hair Transfer.
Other events include the Champion Burning event that helps players level up. There's also a Challenger World Pre-Leap event that allows players to transfer characters they've been progressing in Challenger Worlds to regular worlds.
In addition to what’s mentioned in this story, there’s also a plan to introduce a public test server which you can read about here. Check out Hanbyeol Oh’s report here.
