Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass is Now on Consoles

Kasey Ozymy announced that Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass is now available on consoles. It's being released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. This full length SNES-style JRPG offers 35 to 40 hours of gameplay.

The full title is Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass: Console Enhanced Version. The PC version available on Steam was released way back in 2018. This Japanese-style RPG was actually developed by a guy from Texas. It was very much influenced by a lot of SNES-era JRPGs that include, among others, the likes of Earthbound, Final Fantasy 5, and the Breath of Fire series. In addition, it's also heavily influenced by Yume Nikki.

In a statement, the developer shared that the Console Enhanced version was designed for both fans of the original and new players. It offers new levels along with an expert mode that features new enemies and character interactions. There are also QOL improvements and graphical tweaks, to name a few. Of course, it also has those hilarious family dynamics, vibrant colors, and a funky original soundtrack.

For Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass: Console Enhanced Version, players can look forward to a golden-era JRPG gameplay combined with modern sensibilities. It offers turn-based combat with seven playable family members. Players get the chance to explore seven continents, along with a lot of secret areas, and go against dozens of unspeakable monsters.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass: Console Enhanced Version focuses on the titular eight-year-old character and takes place in his dream. One day, an alien entity appears and is not only threatening his family but also the stability of the dream world. He now sets out on an adventure in an attempt to save his family and remove the threat of the Pulsating Mass. Along the way, Jimmy has to work with his family as he confronts his own shortcomings and brave the creeping nightmares of his subconscious.

Being an empathic kid, along the journey he gains the ability to imagine himself as several of the monsters he meets. This lets him interact with the world in new ways. In addition, the different transformations can also be leveled up and give Jimmy higher stats and new abilities.
