Kickstarter Campaign for Stratagem Lost is Now Live

Hybrid Fiction Games announced that they have launched a Kickstarter Campaign for Stratagem Lost. It is the first title to be released by the studio and offers turn-based strategy RPG elements combined with a visual novel feel along with a punk fantasy aesthetic. It's set in a world which has been left broken and paranoid from war.

The 30-day Kickstarter campaign started October 14 with the base funding goal set at $18,000. In addition, there are additional stretch goals that include dedicated mod support, a color palette creator, and even a roguelike mode. There are also goals for the number of social media followers and Kickstarter backers with rewards like additional modes, extra scenes and a New Game.

For those who are not sure whether to support the game or not, the good news is a demo of the game is available during the ongoing Steam Next Fest. As of this writing, 1,000 individuals have put the game on their Steam wishlist.

The game is planned to be released sometime in the fourth quarter of 2026. Until the launch date arrives, backers of the Kickstarter Campaign can buy the game and play the beta builds. Backers can also get various rewards that include a digital artbook and soundtrack. They can also get their hands on physical prints. Of course, there's access to community polls in the official Discord. Backers who are even more dedicated can contribute to the development of the game like being able to design assistant characters for players or developing the enemies.

Stratagem Lost follows the story of a group of drafted soldiers who discover a dark mystery as they fight against terrorists and otherworldly entities. The game focuses mainly on unique characters and teambuilding which results in an experience where players have to make tough decisions both in and out of combat.

The game features expressionist and vibrant illustrations during cutscenes and combat. The battles play out with a punchy style as if they’re snapshots out of a comic book. Meanwhile, characters express themselves firmly with each pose highlighting personality and individuality.
