Koei Tecmo Says Dynasty Warriors: Origins is Releasing in January 2025

It was back in May when Koei Tecmo and Omega Force announced that they were working on Dynasty Warriors: Origins. This is the latest title to be added to the Dynasty Warriors series. That said, the studio has released an update and that the game is coming out on January 17, 2025.

The Three Kingdoms

What is the game all about? It takes place in the Three Kingdoms, which is a famous time period of ancient China that has been played out as a dramatic ensemble masterpiece. To suppress the violent group known as the Yellow Turbans, a lot of famous officers banded together to fight them. However, after the battle ended there were a lot of questions left unanswered. For example, why did these officers part ways? How did this parting result in the creation of the Three Kingdoms? It appears that there were many historic and beloved characters involved and each one had their own relationships and agendas.

An Original Protagonist

While the setting is indeed something that has been used by a lot of video games, Dynasty Warriors: Origins does something unique by introducing an original protagonist that becomes part of the dramatic Three Kingdoms tale. This new character plays an active role while at the same time give players a first-hand experience in the world of ancient China.

Players get to make different choices as the protagonist. However, he too has a secret that can impact the Three Kingdoms story. While the protagonist serves as the alter ego of the player, he is also one of the figures who helps weave the story. It is through the existence of this characters that the game is able to show a Three Kingdoms that has never been seen before.

Continental Map

While the trailer does give out a lot of information, it doesn’t include a continental map which players get to walk around. With this they explore the lands as they move across battlefields. It also gives players a better understanding on where specific battlefields is located.
