Season 3 of the Last Epoch is now live on Steam. It's titled as Beneath Ancient Skies and launches the Primal Hunt.

Primal Hunt is a new random encounter that works the same way as the Nemesis mechanic. Players can encounter the Primal Hunt during normal gameplay in both Campaign and in the Monolith of Fate.

The Primal Hunt introduces a new way for players to discover powerful new items for their characters and then equip them in the form of Primal Uniques. There are also tier 8 affixes that transform any Exalted item, having an unsealed T7 affix, into a Primordial Exalted. These items are some of the most powerful and exciting ever introduced in the game.

The Rift

The Primal Hunt begins with players encountering a Mysterious rift that one of the Rift Beasts has left open to their breeding grounds. Once they enter the rift they'll then find themselves at the entrance of an ancient cave where the hunt begins. The thing to remember is that Rift Beasts are dangerous and invasive predators. That's because they have the ability to tear across reality to hunt down their prey.

Choose a Lineage

Players able to defeat a Rift Beast get to choose to spare one of three hatchlings that evolve a Rift Beast’s lineage based off of the specific chosen trait. These include:

  • Shoulder Vines: Grows flowering vines from its shoulders that release poison pools. (Drops Affix Shards)
  • Lightning Horns: Gains horns that can be charged with lightning. (Drops Glyphs)
  • Magma Head: Gains an additional head that spits magma. (Drops Rare Boots)

Anyway, once the Lineage has been chosen, players can continue to hunt down the Rift Beasts across Eterra. They can continue adventuring throughout the world and Echoes. They can also find themselves encountering both Torn Rifts, and Mysterious Rifts.
