Qloud Games announced that Loftia is launching into Early Access on November 3. This life-sim cozy solarpunk MMO is going to be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Loftia is the first title from the independent Australian studio. The upcoming early access launch comes after four years of development. In addition, the game had received $1.3 million through a Kickstarter campaign backed by 17,000 players. Closed Alpha and Beta playtests have also been conducted which helped shape development alongside its community.
Loftia is set across a vibrant world of floating islands. Players get to build a home, grow crops using sustainable farming systems, rescue animals, take on cooperative adventures, and contribute to large-scale community projects as part of a living world that continues to grow alongside its players.
Now for most MMOs, the core experience is all about combat and competition. However when it comes to Loftia, the focus is on cooperation and shared progress. As a result, instead of fighting enemies, parties work together through time-based missions featuring platforming, puzzles, exploration, and collaborative challenges.
Built with the Community
Throughout the development of the game, community feedback played a central role. In fact, it was community feedback that helped shape everything in the game. These include, among others, the character customization to the farming to social systems and all the way to the design of the game world.
In a statement, Qloud Games Co-Founder and Studio Director Michael Su revealed that all of these began as a small dream and thus it came as a surprise that a lot of players around the world were also "looking for the same thing." He added that the game has grown along with the community and the upcoming early access launch feels like both the "culmination of a four-year marathon" along with the start of a new chapter.
The studio in particular assured everyone the development is going to continue across the early access phase. Players can look forward to seeing new areas, activities, stories, social features and community-driven content planned as the world expands.
