Luminas: Parasite Reign is Coming Soon to Steam

SOTO Game Studio announced that Luminas: Parasite Reign is coming soon to Steam. This is the studio's debut title and invites players to meet a whimsical cast of supernatural creatures and lead them through endless waves of parasites that corrupt their land. A demo is planned to be released on Steam this March 26.

In a statement, the development team revealed that they'll be inviting players to join in the Early Access preview demo. This allows them to experience the first map biome, get a feel for the Luminas, and face opening boss battles.

Luminas: Parasite Reign offers a new take on the Roguelite survivors genre. It's a game where survival relies entirely on party-based team building. The party starts their run by selecting the Lumina of choice, like Pyropeep the dragon, Shelly the Turtle, and more. They then guide the party of up to three total members across enemy waves by exploring the map to awaken other Luminas and opening chests for power-ups.

Players can draw from unique spell abilities, which offer additional stat effects and boons to help players avoid being overwhelmed by ever-growing swarms. Each Lumina offers distinct elemental powers that define the playstyle of the party. There are DPS cards that deliver increasingly amplified damage as well as heavy offensive cards for explosive AoE blows. Players can also opt for team-building buffs as a tanky support.

Mix and Match

Players can pair Luminas strategically to create the most powerful spell synergies possible within the party. As players continue to level up and draw, pair specific combinations together to earn main spell upgrades or unlock rare new spells to add to the overall arena.

In between runs, players can exchange gold at the village for treasure and visit each Lumina’s hub to upgrade their skill trees. They can test out different equippable items and party compositions to discover the best possible builds. Eventually, the Luminas enters an Evolutionary state, where they reveal new traits and stat enhancements. These evolutionary upgrades boost power and encourage future build upgrades based on how the team has been assembled.
