Good news for fans of the Mercenaries Saga series! Developer ESQUADRA and RideonJapan, along with publisher Flyhigh Works, is launching three titles for the PC through Steam on October 12. The three games are Mercenaries Saga -Will of the White Lions-, Mercenaries Saga 2 -Order of the Sliver Eagle-, and Mercenaries Saga 3 -Gray Wolves of War-.
The three are tactical role-playing games are collectively known as the Mercenaries Saga Chronicles. The gameplay is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and the Tactics Ogre series. It was first released for the Nintendo Switch in February 2018. These three titles combined to offer 82 specific story-based battles plus more optional battles.
The Three Titles
Mercenaries Saga is a turn based tactical simulation RPG and is the first of the series. It has been followed by a lot of other solid simulation games with games like Mercenaries Blaze and Mercenaries Rebirth being the ones recently added. Mercenaries Saga 2 meanwhile is also a tactical simulation RPG where players get to fight their way across 32 stages. Mercenaries Saga 3 is the third game in the franchise and set in a fantasy background.
Common Features
While each of the titles offer unique gameplay experiences, there are some common features. Players lead a team of characters on a grid and fight against an enemy team in turn-based combat. One interesting feature is that how the units are positioned can have an impact on the Action results during the battle. That's because the game takes into account were the different team members are placed and determine the effectiveness of the actions.
Another interesting common feature is being able to use Skill Points to change the classes of the character. By leveling up their character, players get to unlock not only Intermediate classes but even Advanced ones. Each class comes with its own set of skills to be learned. In addition, there are also special classes which can be unlocked through certain items.
Wishlist the games on Steam now. Now for those who want more, there’s an extra treat available. Launching on the same date as the three titles is Mercenaries Wings: The False Phoenix. It’s also going to be available on Steam and priced at $14.99.
