Metis Creative revealed that they're working on an occultish turn-based RPG WANE. It's set against the backdrop of an industrial noir world and follows archaeologist Declan Wayne.
WANE has players take on the role of a fading archaeologist. Declan's fractured memories have transformed his cerebral realm of Ravelle into a shifting labyrinth of trauma, obsession, and regret.
Forming the Party
Players need to recruit adventurers, build a three-person party, and then descend through three distinct biomes in grid-based tactical combat shaped by attrition, random encounters, and boss battles.
Characters include an assassin having a demon who controls his vocal cords. Then there’s the disgraced fighter pilot who seems to have turned mecha. Another one is a magician with a penchant for taking Death for a ride at their poker nights. These are just some of the interesting characters players can meet.
Between Expeditions
Between expeditions, players return to an antiquarian shop to appraise and sell relics, upgrade facilities, and fund the next run. As the roguelike cycle continues, new synergies, shortcuts, and permanent buffs open up while the story unfolds through repeated journeys deeper into Ravelle.
High Quality Visuals
Metis Creative CEO Sarp Duyar shared in a statement that the studio was able to find success in their ability to produce high-quality and original visuals. Duyar added that their vision for the game is to continue "that tradition across a totally new medium."
Meanwhile, Shoreline Games CEO Keith Kawamura said that the game is a "fantastic example" of the creativity they've already experienced working with Metis Creative in the past. WANE is being published in partnership with Shoreline Gam.
