Developer Alkimia Interactive has managed to reach a new milestone with its upcoming title Gothic 1 Remake. It looks like a lot of players are excited for this one with records showing that over 1,000,000 players have decided to wishlist the game on Steam. This has resulted in the game making it to #21 on the global most-wishlisted games chart on the platform.
In a statement, the studio shared that they're truly thankful for all the incredible support they've received and more than "fully committed to delivering a remake" that is worthy of the legacy of the original. While there's no release date yet, fans should be happy to know that work continues. However, there's no need to wait for the actual launch since there's a chance to experience what the game has offered with a free demo on Steam.
In fact the demo has been upgraded and now features:
- A brand-new prequel story set in the gritty and unforgiving world of Gothic.
- Rediscover the iconic atmosphere of the 2001 RPG classic and encounter legendary characters.
- Explore the Valley of Mines, which has been rebuilt from the ground up with current-gen technology.
- Experience a first taste of the modernized combat system that offers a more fluid and dynamic experience while staying true to its deliberate and tactical roots.
Gothic 1 Remake remains faithful to the original experience as it rebuilds the game from the ground up while at the same time preserving the unique sense of unrestricted exploration and satisfying progression. The dark and gritty world of the Colony has been made richly detailed and immersive. In addition, NPCs and wildlife follow realistic daily routines which are independent from the player.
While the core pillars of the game remain intact, the remake improves the experience with expanded and more detailed questlines. There are also additional NPC routines and reactions along with new traversal abilities. Fans can also look forward to a fully modernized combat system.
In Gothic 1 Remake, players return to the Valley of the Mines. They get to explore a hand-crafted and organic open world that reacts dynamically to their actions. Whether they’re a seasoned Gothic veteran or this is their first time being thrown into the colony, everyone is in for a true RPG experience with unrestricted exploration like no other.
