A new demo The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time is now available on Steam. The game has players deduce puzzles and solve secrets behind this greatest game that never was.
The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time is the last hour of a lost and nonexistent JRPG. It's been "remade" in 3D pixel art and comes complete with director’s commentary, a digital manual, and even archival footage.
In the game players begin at level 99. They see the conclusion to story arcs they were never present for along with the heroic sacrifices by side characters they never knew existed. They'll have to uncover the meta-narrative of why they've never heard of this game and why they can only play the last hour. They also have to learn why it's being remade in the first place.
In addition to offering a fully featured RPG battle system, the game has mystery at its core and features complex deduction puzzles. It also has those beautiful 3D/pixel hybrid visuals and full-motion video.
Demo Version
The demo that's been released teases a snippet of the game's non-chronological storytelling, offbeat humor, and deduction puzzles. Players are dropped in blind to an epic conclusion with no context and now has to scour the in-game world and documentation behind the game world. They'll have to understand what’s going on and what to do about it.
In a statement, Lead Designer Lucas Immanuel shared that they've always loved making games which "mess around with genre." He added that the title is a deduction game as well as an RPG and narrative rabbit hole that explores their relationship to games along with the creative process.
