Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced that the adventures on the floating castle of Aincrad are far from over. That's because they're currently working on a new DLC for Echoes of Aincrad. Dubbed as "Genesis Maidens," is scheduled to come in the winter of 2026.
Genesis Maidens introduces a new storyline and when combined with the new side quests, extends the journey of players across new areas of Floors 1 and 2 of Aincrad. Players can also look forward to meeting a new ally with Misumi Tozawa, better known as Mito. She makes her entrance from the Sword Art Online Progressive films and joins the party to support the players. However, it's worth noting that she still struggles to overcome the guilt she bears from her past actions. Mito brings with her a new weapon type which is the curved sword. She also has her own combination skills and support skills.
The Genesis Maidens DLC also adds a new system of enhancing armors that allow players to upgrade them with passive effects and as a result, create new options for customization of their build.
Echoes of Aincrad invites everyone into the dynamic and vibrant world of Sword Art Online. It's one that's filled with challenges and unforgettable encounters. The game embraces the meta behind the IP which is where players enter a virtual world and experience a life-of-death adventure themselves. What this means is that the main character is what players design through the extensive avatar customization. They get to go on a journey where they explore diverse cities and beautiful environments along with facing monsters and bosses that tests their skills.
Echoes of Aincrad features fast-paced RPG action and offers real-time combat. Players can match their preferred playstyle by adapting and upgrading their equipment, weapons, attributes, and even special skills. With this, they’ll later be able to level up and with it, face even greater challenges.
The journey may be difficult but the good news is that they won’t be doing it alone. That’s because victories in combat rely on their chosen NPC partner, each one having different skills and abilities which can be customized. As the bond with their partner deepens, players get to unlock new skills and more powerful abilities.
Echoes of Aincrad is available on PC via Steam along with consoles PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S.
