A new season is set to launch in Torchlight: Infinite this Thursday. It's going to add a new mechanic where players get the chance to become Night Watchers in the NetherRealm. This allows them to guide departed souls onto the underworld in an effort to farm as much loot as possible.
How this new mechanic works is that players come across unnamed coffins in the NetherRealm. They can then guide through the world after lighting a lantern to start a funeral procession. The goal is to protect that procession as players try to defeat any enemies that have been lured over by that guiding light.
The color of the lantern reveals that proficiency of the players when it comes to guiding souls. For example, when it's green, that means players are excellent in dispatching enemies. Meanwhile, a yellow lantern shows the players slowing down and the battlefield has become too crowded. A red lantern on the other hand says that players need to get rid of the enemies currently attacking the coffin before they can progress.
There's also going to be the chance for players to encounter randomly triggered events. In addition, there are also special golden enemies where players have a chance to escort special coffins like the veteran’s coffin, which has a tighter time limit, denser enemy spawns and a higher kill target.
New Endgame Challenge
The upcoming new season also brings with it a new endgame challenge that replaces City Defense. It’s titled as Divine Ascent and it’s one that’s sure to test the best builds out there. In this challenge, players need to complete maps within a three-minute time limit.
Players have to fill Challenge Progress bars by clearing enemies or random events. Once the progress bar is full, it unlocks the floor boss which players then have to defeat within the time limit. Once they succeed, players then advance to the next map.
Torchlight: Infinite is the fourth title in the Torchlight series. This action role-playing game draws from the lore and high-fantasy setting of previous Torchlight games. It features a more apocalyptic world and unifies its dungeon levels with relatively rigid quest lines. Torchlight: Infinite is available on Steam.
