New Trailer for Starsand Island Released

Seed Lab has released a new trailer for its upcoming life sim Starsand Island. This one highlights the emotionally deep romance and relationship system of the game.

Starsand Island has players embark on a journey of personal healing. They get to return to the island home of their childhood. They get to settle into a calming and pastoral idyll as they farm, fish, raise animals, and do other activities. They can also build those connections with the quirky local characters. Every day of island living has players see the subtle and unscripted changes in how NPCs react to them and thus create an authentic feeling of growing friendships and relationships.

In Starsand Island, affection and friendship isn’t one-sided. That's because NPCs eventually extend kindness toward players. These are experienced as shifts in conversational tone to sending gifts or even waiting on the shoreline for their return after a day’s fishing. Each relationship developed on the island has its own story arc and there are multiple endings and differing levels of companionship depending on the interactions made over the course of the game.

In a statement, Seed Lab Technical Director Goltan Gao shared in a statement that when they developed the game, they wanted to make the NPCs “truly compelling individuals.” This is why each one has their own engaging personalities and even long-term personal goals. He added that they’re excited to see “how players will establish and nurture vibrant relationships” in the game.

Successful Kickstarter

Back in April, the studio launched a Kickstarter campaign for Starsand Island. It has been a successful one with the game getting 5,306 backers. In addition, a total of $311,566 have been pledged from the $100,000 goal.
