The anniversary update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live. There's a lot of new features to the game. One of these is the new operation titled as Vortex. It brings players back to the Astropathic Relay on Avarax, which has once again fallen silent. This time, players have to investigate and cleanse the Relay of lingering heretical presence and with it confront a mighty enemy lurking in its deepest levels.
New Enemies
A new operation means the arrival of new enemies. The new boss is the Mutalith Vortex Beast. It's a towering and warp-twisted monstrosity that drags reality into spiraling chaos. This beast rends and crashes using its claws and releases storms of sorcerous energy upon the Astartes.
Meanwhile, new Majoris enemies known as Chaos Spawns can appear in all Operations featuring the Thousand Sons. These are dark abominations and powerful melee units that've been infused with forbidden sorcery. These are fearsome opponents especially when encountered in greater numbers. Their varied mutated limbs give them a highly diverse and lethal moveset. However, it is the duty of Astartes to study them and purge the heresy.
New Weapons
There are also new weapons added to the game. The first is the Power Axe, available for both PvE and PvP.
The Power Axe is a swift and aggressive power weapon that can deliver relentless, infinitely chaining attacks. It can be wielded by the Vanguard, Assault, and Bulwark classes. It's a fierce yet tactical weapon. Those able to successfully execute a perfect parry can put their Marine in a Power Stance which creates a moment of tactical choice. That is to step back and release a devastating Power Wave or press forward to continue the fearsome combo.
Added as well are the Pyreblaster and Pyrecannon, limited to for PvE. These are for the Tactical and Heavy classes.
In addition to the new features mentioned here, the new update also introduces new game modes. The Patch 10.0 update also arrives to the game along with the new Season Pass II.
