New Video Shares Visual Style for Stupid Never Dies

The game releases October 21 for the PC and PS5.

Developer GPTRACK50 released a new video which features a deep dive into the visual style of Stupid Never Dies. The game offers a single-player 3D action RPG experience unlike anything that's been played before. It's launching for the PlayStation 5 and PC on October 21.

In a statement, the studio revealed that they wanted to create a game that had a visual style which stood out from the crowd. It may not be too polished but it has a combination of various factors that's sure to leave a lasting impression. The studio went on to say that the development team drew upon the new pop punk theme with the use of colors and styles that tied into the nostalgic feel of that sound. There's also the hand-drawn style that's been weaved together to 3D through carefully constructed linework and shadows. As a result, it has that combination of the classically familiar feel with modern elements to come up with something that feels dynamic and hand-crafted.

Over Technology

The core mechanic to Day's arsenal, and even that of his enemies, is the Over Technology. To make sure that it would work, it was integrated organically into the monster designs. In addition, it also makes enemy power easily identifiable by the player. That means that the more powerful the enemy, the more dangerous the dungeon, and the more menacing the visuals become.

The studio went on to say that since the story is told from the perspective of Davy, they wanted to make the player truly immersed in his mind. Thus they made sure that the UI and other visual details should look as if they were things that Davy would have lying around or even drawn by himself.

Stupid Never Dies is set in a monster-ruled otherworldly dungeon. Players take on the role of Davy, a timid zombie who’s living at the very bottom of monster society. THey’ll need to defeat enemies, level up, and collect strange items to grow stronger on their quest to bring Julia, a frozen human girl, back to life.

For the PC, those interested can wishlist Stupid Never Dies on Steam.
