New Wildlife Introduced to Rust in New Update

A new update is now live in Rust and opens up a new biome. Get ready to explore the new jungle biome. There’s a lot to be excited about but there are also dangers lurking in the shadows.

Ferocious Felines

As they explore the dense foliage of the jungle, players need to watch out for something sneakier than them lurking. Keep an eye out for the tiger, which may well be the deadliest animal players can encounter in the game. It closes in extremely slowly from behind and only strikes when it's sure to kill. What this means is that a moment of inattention in the jungle is all it takes.

The thing is, a lot of players in Rust often get ambushed by different NPCs, whether these same NPCs are trying to be stealthy or not. This makes the tiger even more dangerous. The good news is that the studio is offering three hints to let players know that they're being stalked.

By the way, when on the lookout for the black stripes and orange, you may fail to notice another dangerous creature. Be wary of the very rare black panther that also roams the jungle.

The Water Dragon

The new jungle biome has rivers that are now longer, wider, and deeper. To cross them, players need to swim across.

However, before they even attempt to cross, players need to think twice since that dead tree in the murky water may not be what it seems. Beware of the crocodile. If the tiger is the deadliest, then this one may be the toughest. Despite looking slow and short-sighted, players should never lower their guard. The good news is that the crocodile operates on the basis of mutual respect. That means if players don't mess with it then they'll be fine.

Danger Noodle

Another stealthy threat in the jungle biome are snakes. They hide pretty well in their leafy environment and their poison attack can slow down the movement speed of players. Listen to their attack hiss since it's usually the first sign that they’re about to bite.

Still, it’s not all bad news since dead snakes can be skinned for Snake Venom. This new item can be used to create incapacitate darts for the new blowpipe weapon.
