Indie developer Megasploot announced that Nimbit Frontier is now available in Early Access on Steam. This cozy creature-raising adventure and life sim was able to obtain more than 40,000 Steam wishlists ahead of launch. The game is available for $13.99 with a 10% launch discount.
In a statement, the studio revealed that the release into early access comes after five years of being in development. The early access version comes with at least 20 hours of content with players being able to discover and nurture 42 Nimbit species. These are also three biomes to explore and 24 NPCs to meet. Things to do include habitat building, town life, and expeditions into the mysterious Underwild.
While Nimbit Frontier works like your typical creature collectors, what makes it different is that the game is built around eventually letting those creatures go. One way to describe the game is that it's Chao Garden meets Stardew Valley with light action-roguelike dungeon crawling tying the experience together.
The studio went on to say that the early access period is expected to last about 18 months. The development team revealed that they’ve been working closely with its playtesting community for more than a year now and plans to continue incorporating player feedback throughout early access. For the first two weeks of early access though, the main focus is all about bug fixing.
Players can report bugs and provide feedback directly through the game's in-game reporting tools or through the Nimbit Frontier community on Discord.
First Content Update
With the game now in early access, the first major content update is planned to be released late this year. For Progression & Goals, what is being worked on include:
- Level cap increased to 70
- Expanded fishing progression
- New sanctuary tier
- More quests
- More Sacred Tree wishes
- More bots
- And additional Outpost improvement
- More dog skills
Meanwhile, for Relationships & Town Life, players can look forward to:
- Heart Level 6
- New Heart 6 scenes
- Rival meet
- Birthdays
Then for Underwild & Combat, the upcoming update plans to introduce an additional boss per biome. There's also going to be more artifacts, more guns, and more dungeon rooms.
